Diabetes DietDiabetes diet should consist of 70-75% carbohydrates, 5-10% fat and 15-20% protein. Choosing the right diet for diabetes helps to regulate carbohydrate metabolism and facilitate the work of a weakened pancreas. The main rule of diabetics diet – the exclusion of sugar and sweets (honey, jam, candy, buns, raisins, grapes).

The total amount of fat for cooking (butter, vegetable oil, lard, cooking fat) should not exceed 40 grams per day. It is also necessary to limit consumption of other products containing large amounts of fat – fatty meats, sausages, salami, cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise.

Also, the diet should be severely restricted, but best not to eat fried, spicy, salty, and spicy and smoked food, pepper.

Of the cereals better to use oatmeal and buckwheat, are permissible as millet, barley, rice cereal. As for vegetables, the potatoes, beets, carrots should eat no more than 200 grams per day. But other vegetables (lettuce, cabbage, radishes, cucumbers and tomatoes) and herbs can be used almost without limitation in raw and cooked. Fruits and berries are acidic and sour-sweet varieties (oranges, apples, cranberries, lemons, red currants) – up to 200-300 grams a day.

Some important rules for diabetics
1. Need to eat at the same time, evenly distributing food intake; it is desirable – 5-6 times a day.
2. Every day need to eat vegetables
3. Do not skip meals.
4. Avoid eating a large amount of salt.
5. Food should be rich in fiber: whole-grain bread, crackers, cereals, peas, beans.
6. Drink plenty of fluids.
7. Exclude alcohol.

Sample menu for the day:
Breakfast: cottage cheese, salad with vegetable, milk and coffee without sugar
Second breakfast: fresh apple
Lunch: soup vegetarian, meat balls steam, stewed eggplant, fresh apple
Afternoon snack: cottage cheese, grated carrots, no sugar
Dinner: boiled fish, stewed cabbage
At night: a glass of kefir
